This looks like an impressive library.  They sampled 132 different hardware synths.

Anyone using it?  It would be cool to have something similar in Unify!

Yes, I have it and it's an amazing collection of synths and presets (over 3500 I think).

I have it as well, and it's excellent. Not sure how Unify would offer something similar without raising the price by hundreds of dollars, though...

I think he meant to Unify it. It's on my list.

@zinct Once small problem with the UVI stuff is that the end user can access it either through Falcon or Workstation... Same product but 2 different methods to get to it.

@hexabuzz Agreed, that's why I have put off Unifying SA3. It's a lot of presets and I would end up doing it twice (once for UVI Workstation and again for Falcon 2). Then again the AHK script for one would be quite similar to the other, it's just that it would tie up my machine for ~5 hours each time (assuming 5 seconds per patch) so I think it's one to leave running overnight.

Yeah, I just got it today.  I know it would be impossible to do in Unify, but it would be cool to have some the modern analog and digital synths in the library.  The ESC | Neutronics library for OS2/Unify is a great start!

I'm also a big fan of Neutronics (and pretty much anything by TimDale / ESC).

I was wondering whether you are using SA3 in Falcon or UVI Workstation? I don't have Falcon yet so I thought I would make a Unified version of SA3 for UVI Workstation first.

I was looking at it last night and it's so large that I was considering making separate Unify libraries for each section to keep the preset names shorter. Any thoughts on this?

Here's a couple of examples of Unify preset names if it were one huge SA3 library:

      0-Animated - ARP - ACP-Chordaris

      1-Classic Analog - Atmos - JP8-Warm Ambient

If there were separate libraries for each section then the same presets would look like this in Unify:

      ARP - ACP-Chordaris

      Atmos - JP8-Warm Ambient

but the first one would be in the SA3 0-Animated library and the second one would be in the SA3 1-Classic Analog library.

@tony10000  I have a working AHK script for SA3 now so I should have it Unified (in UVI Workstation) by the end of the weekend.

The same script will work for Falcon 2 (maybe with a small mod).

I went with one library in the end to keep it all together.

@tony10000

I'm just checking that the process is working OK before I do 3,500+ patches. Would you mind testing something for me please?

I also wouldn't mind exchanging some ideas for the Unified version with you before committing to them.

Thanks in advance.

SHANE EDIT: I've emailed you details directly. Jeremy EDIT: Thank you Shane.

Is anyone actually in touch with a contact at UVI for permission to create these (and the Falcon Libraries) for public distribution through the group? As far as I know, Bernd has said he will not be contacting them, and I don't know of anyone else who has made the offer to do so.

Yes I contacted them about SA3. No reply as yet but I only contacted them yesterday. I was under the impression that Bernd had contacted them but I hadn't seen any outcome from that.

There was a discussion on the AHK thread about sharing Unified libraries. I think we concluded that a company is unlikely to object to a person Unifying a library for their own personal use. With AHK you can save an executable version of the script so you could make that available so that people could Unify their own libraries using that script but that would also not be without its problems which is probably why it hasn't happened yet.

@zinct Any idea how big the files are and what the "blob" contains?

@tony10000 Yes, it's looking pretty favourable - I was out for a lot of the day so left it running to completion.

It's around 74Mb for the entire 3,555 patches which is really impressive (Analog Lab V was over 1Gb for approx the same number of patches).

@zinct Does the blob contain any proprietary data?  I think that would be a factor in getting approval from UVI.

I will have a look - not sure how I would be able to tell. Maybe someone who doesn't own SA3 could try it and see whether it works.

@zinct I just looked at it.  Looks like there is a data blog in "Instrument stateInformation".  Not sure what it contains.  Maybe Shane would know.

Yes but it's just a big blob of binary so I have no idea what it contains. I have asked Shane.

@zinct, @tony10000

I tested loading one of Jeremy's patches on my Mac, which has the UVI Workstation VST installed, but not Synth Anthology 3. The patch loads, but UVI Workstation reports that it can't find about a zillion sample files, so I'm pretty confident those patches will be useless unless the full Synth Anthology 3 library (which includes nearly 15 GB of samples) is also installed.

The UVI Workstation VST state-data is only 8 kilobytes in size, not nearly large enough to hold any samples or even wavetables. I decoded the actual payload out of the Unify patch, but the result is still binary gibberish--probably encrypted--so I can't shed any light on what it actually contains.

@getdunne @hexabuzz @tony10000

Thanks Shane.

I also received a reply from UVI this morning regarding Unified SA3 libraries and also asked whether Falcon 2 and its Expansions are also covered to be on the safe side. It looks like they are all covered.

Here's the reply from Alexandre Sole (UVI Support)...

"Thanks for reaching out,

I confirm you that you can share your custom Unify template for Synth Anthology 3's presets to other users without breaking our End-User License Agreement (EULA) 🙂

I confirm you that it is the case for all UVI soundbanks and Falcon expansions 😉

Have a nice day and feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
All the best from Paris,
Support Team"

@hexabuzz

Yes, I did wonder if it would take longer for them to reply as it's a Bank Holiday here in the UK but maybe not in France.

I have shared the SA3 UVI Workstation with Tony for testing. I am also trying out the inclusion of macro knob settings similar to those in Falcon 2 although whether one set is feasible/useful across all 3500 presets may be questionable. I'm using the host automation in UVI Wks and linked parameters in Unify to link to them.

These are the initial 8 knob settings I'm using so if you have any other ideas for the 3 blank ones or alternatives that would be useful...

Filter Cutoff – Filter Res – Verb Mix – Delay Mix – LFO Speed – blank – blank – blank

I re-ran the Unify process overnight but it had a few issues where I had reduced one of the delays in the script when testing something else, and forgotten to increase it again before the unattended run. That caused some issues with patch/file naming so I think it’s best if I re-run it again tonight with a longer delay between patches to be safe.

Shall I send a copy of the previous version without macro knob settings to try also or you can wait until I've done one with them included?

@tony10000

Last night's run was successful so I have pinged you over a copy of the new guru file with macro knob assignments.

Let me know if you find any problems. I've been sorting out car problems most of the day so only just got to look at it.

@zinct Hi Jeremy, if you want another beta tester, I also have SA3.  I use UVI Workstation to run it.

@patrick-smith

Yes no problem. I might as well upload it to Dropbox and put the link here as UVI have given the go ahead. I just need to free up some space in my Dropbox account (you can probably guess what it's full of, lol).

I'm not at my PC right now but I'll sort out in the next hour or so.
