I installed Tone2 Icarus 2 and have it working in Cantabile directly. I added the Icarus guru file and ran the plugin scanner and Unify sees it (not red) but it always plays the welcome patch no matter which one I choose. Figuring there is some easy step I'm missing. Thanks for help on this.

I assume you're using the unified library for Icarus 2 VST.

Have you registered the VST (not VST3) version of Icarus 2 in Unify's Known Plug-Ins List?

Is it possible that Icarus 2 is still running in demo-mode (because you haven't activated your license yet)? That could cause this behavior.

You say you got "Icarus 2" from Computer Music magazine. A quick google search reveals that the version of Icarus they are currently giving away free is v1.6. From the magazine page:

The current full release version (v2.5) is normally €199, but rather than bringing you a lite version of this, we’ve actually secured the final build of version 1 (v1.6), and it’s yours absolutely free with this issue. What’s more our giveaway also entitles you to a heavily discounted upgrade path to v2.5.

If you're actually running Icarus v1.6, it will not load patches saved with Icarus 2.x. You would need to follow through and purchase the upgrade to v2.5.

I think the company name was throwing me off 🤣 - I thought that v3 is coming out and the free version was a 2.x but it is 1.6 so I'll need to upgrade. The upgrade entitles a 1.6 user to v3 when it comes out. It is one of the better synth VST's - I think on par with u-he products.
