Well, the good news is that all of the PluginGuru Omnisphere libraries I tried in Unify, work fine in Omnisphere 3. I have quite a few PluginGuru Omnisphere libraries, did spot checks, and I did not find any problems. I can't vouch as to whether they sound the same, but they sound as I would expect them to and they load without issues in Unify (1).

Thanks for validating and letting us know.  That's helpful.

Hi,

I'm having problems opening all my unified O2 library files after upgrading O2 to O3.

Nothing is working. I've tried updating all VST and VST3 instruments in Unify.

I can open O3 in Unify manually and import any preset, but they don't work when I use the unified library presets in Unify, and I have a lot of saved user presets which use Omnisphere patches as part of the multi.

After opening a unified O2 preset I get no sound - then I double-click on the O2 instrument and the O2 screen comes up????. it says either it cannot open the wavetable or O2 needs updating????

I had no issues upgrading to O3 - that works fine in standalone mode.

Clearly I'm doing something wrong as MsChiff has validated the libraries for O3.

Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Thanks

I think there are two possibilities:

  1. You didn't install Omnisphere 3 "over" Omnisphere 2 (so O2 was fully replaced by O3), so the O2 VST is still wherever it was before.
  2. You chose not to install the O3 VST, i.e. you installed only the VST3, so again, the O2 VST is still wherever it was, and that's what Unify loads.

There is no fully automatic way to convert patches based on a VST (i.e., VST version 2) plug-in to work seamlessly with the VST3 version of the same plug-in. The two standards are substantially different. All of the unified libraries for Omnisphere were created using the VST, and won't work if only the VST3 is available.

If your issue is #1, contact Spectrasonics for assistance. This could be a complicated situation to unwind.

If your issue is #2, run the Omnisphere 3 installer again, and make sure you choose to install the VST plug-in.

@getdunne Thank you, Shane for taking the time to respond. I followed the original instructions to install O3 - I think I just loaded the VST3. I have now re-installed O3 making sure to include both VST and VST3. Unfortunately, in Unify when I load an O2 patch it still gives no sound and clicking on 'omnisphere' I get the messages ...this needs an updated O2 ....... unable to load waveform. The O2 VST loads the front page and says it is version 2.8.6.

I can still load O3 manually in Unify and it works a treat. This doesn't help my old unified patches using O2.

@getdunne will do. Thanks....................... I've just noticed that my .dll files are all in the Spectrasonics folder. Have copied them to my usual VST folder and hey presto it all works in Unify once again!!!! My brain is getting addled.

same for me ! every thing is ok !

I just notice that the GUI is quite slow to open compared to O2. It doesn't come from Unify, it's the same thing in standalone.

I am new to Unify, and I also have Omni 3 vst3 and AU installed.
I see similar problem, where I load an instrument from my OmniChill Unify library, and error message that the plugin (Omnisphere) cannot be found.

I have scanned all my plugins and the plugin tab indeed shows that Omni 3 VST3 and AU is installed and Unify 2 can 'see it'.

I suspect this is because the OmniChill Unify library is expecting to see Omnisphere 2 installed since i guess it was designed for Omni 2?

To (sort of) get around this issue, I created a 'user layer' that has Omni 3 with OmniChill library already inserted on the first Omni patch slot.
So I will navigate this way instead of trying to use the formal Unify OmniChill Library navigation at the top right of the Unify2 interface.

Unify 2 is a mind blowing plugin/app for sure!
Thank you for making it!

@chasapple

This sounds like you may not have the VST2 version of Omnipshere 3 installed.  Assuming they released a VST2 version.  The Unify libraries were built referencing Omnisphere VST2 and this is possibly the issue you are seeing.  The library, as provided, will not be able to use the VST3 version.

I have not upgraded to Omnisphere 3 yet so don't know if there is a VST2 version, but I am pretty sure I heard they still have it.

It's possible the Unify Libraries may need to be updated to reference VST3 versions.

@ssquared thank you for the reply.

You are correct. It's because I don't have Omnisphere VST 2 installed, only VST 3.

So for the time being I just load Omnisphere 3 VST3 version and access OmniChill that way instead of trying to load the Unify Library version of OmniChill.
