Hi, I've recently purchased a VST3 called "Thing" TH8 (it comes with TH5) from Acustica Audio. It works in another standalone host called "Liveprofessor" but fails to start within Unify standalone.
I raised a ticket 45232 with Acustica Audio in the hope that they would liaise with you but they emailed me to state that my vst host is unsupported and therefore they would refund me. However, this doesn't please me as I was impressed with their product and it is heavily subsidised until the end of March 2025 whereby it will return to almost double its price.
I hope that you can liaise with Acustica to see if they will allow Pluginguru to have a copy of both TH8 and TH5 to see if you can unravel what the issue might be.

I can verify this with the free Demo versions of TH5 and TH8 on Windows. It's definitely a problem with Unify. Something goes wrong when it tries to open these plug-ins' GUI. I'll mention this to Paul, so hopefully he can fix it in Unify 2.
Until then, I have found a work-around: You can load these plug-ins inside a ComboBox instance as follows:
- On an INST layer, click the bullet icon beside the instrument name (will be "Sine Wave Synth" after INIT)
- Select Swap: Unify Standard > Utility > ComboBox
- A new ComboBox GUI window will open
- Right-click inside the ComboBox GUI to pop up the plug-in selector, and select TH8 or TH5
- A new node will appear in the plug-in graph
- Drag a connection from the red dot below the MIDI Input node (top right) to the red dot above the new TH8/TH5 node
- When you release, a red "wire" should connect the two MIDI connection pins
- This indicates that incoming MIDI will be routed to the plug-in
- Drag connections from the left and right green dots below the TH8/TH5 node, to the left and right green dots on the Audio Output node (bottom left)
- You should see two green wires, indicating that left/right stereo audio from the plug-in be routed to the output.
- Double-click the TH8/TH5 node to open the plug-in's GUI, choose a preset, and play.
You can simplify this work-flow by doing it once and then saving the INST layer as a layer preset.

Yes - Thanks Shane, we will ask Acustica Audio to share NFRs so that we can investigate what's going on here.
ComboBox is a great workaround.
