Can not record Unify in Logic
Hi I am having a problem in that I can not record a lot of things in Logic from Unify.
I am working on making some background music for a video I made and its not recording into Logic not sure why.
I have Logic running and Unify in Logic and I am using one of the Chilly pop items and I added a drum to it as well from Noizbox all in unify.
I record this into logic and it shows a recording but nothing plays back no sound on playback.
I tested recording just the drums from Noizebox and same thing it records in and then I have nothing no playback sound.
It shows a long line in the midi area and when I click on that line it can hear the sound for a few seconds and then it stops.
It's not letting me upload a screen shot to show here.
Still having problems.
sometimes it will record but only parts of it play back like I start to record and the sound is going but on play back the sound dose not start till way past when I started it.
Adding in a second track messes up the first track making them not play right or all all.
I did not have the problem before the last update.
I am stuck in that I can not get anything recorded good like this now. It is hit and miss if it is going to play back or when the payback will even start if at all.
I have passed this on to John, as I'm not able to get into detailed troubleshooting right now. He'll need a LOT more information, starting with: does this affect every single patch in Unify, or just some?
Hi Eddie - this is quite perplexing! I am working in Logic Pro X version 10.7.4 and it plays back whatever I record into it without fail. I can't even think of what is causing this but let's do a little step 1, step 2, step 3:
Step 1 - you check in Logic (right click on the CPU Meter, choose Customize Bar and Display so it shows you "No In and No Out") - when you play notes on your keyboard, you see the note and then the Number 1 before the note icon? You probably need to make sure you are transmitting on MIDI Channel 1 since some things are channel specific even though Unify is pretty Agnostic until you change the "ANY" on a Unify Layer to 1 - 16.
So Step 1 = MIDI is being sent on channel 1?
Step 2 - You call up a patch, play keys in Logic and the sound plays correctly. Is this working for you?
Step 3 - You hit record, play say a number of different notes - not just 1. Do they play back for you?
Often times when you play at beat 1, if you're a little early, the note WON"T PLAY. Quantize the note to 100% and THEN it will play. It's possible that is the issue?
I'm guessing and throwing spitballs since I'm not there and can't see what keyboard you're using or how you're using it. But start with these 3 steps. Nothing MAJOR was done with the latest update that should have caused this behavior. Again, I've been making demo songs etc for weeks without any problems so I hope the above helps troubleshoot what went wrong.
I'm leaving for the coast tomorrow to spend some time with my daughter but I'll check the forums soon. Just give me a little time if you don't immediately hear back from me. Thank you.
Life is Sound / Sound is Divine
I am still having problems with it I get the same on both my Macs a Mac mini and a Mac Studio Max.
I was going to make a video but got busy over thanksgiving,
Yes when I am in logic I can play anything and it works.
But when I record it is hit and miss. Many times it will not playback right or only play back part of the sound not the full sound of the item in Unify I was using.
Here is a screen shot I tested this with midi as well and two of the lines it plays the full sound but on the other two lines it only plays parts of the sound from Unify so was not able to use this. This was also one of the ones that I recorded that would not play back right.
I will be taking off in a few days next week for a vacation as well.
I am out of town right now. will be back next week. Using Unify to play with magic keys on a keyboard I have with me.
