Cannot get unify to run

Hi

i can install unify. but when i try to run the exe , i get nothing.  tried in daw aswell doesnt show. also tried as administrator. windows 10 O.S   

Have exausted my head. does anyone please have any ideas

I'm sorry to hear you're having such trouble. Let's start with just getting the stand-alone Unify.exe running, and worry about DAW later.

Does the Unify installer seem to run normally, all the way to the end? Did you specify a different location to install, i.e., other than C: drive? When you say "run the exe", do you mean C:\Program Files\PlugInGuru\Unify.exe?

@getdunne hi. yes the installer seems to complete as expected. and yes that is the location of the .exe file.  I have tried both the desktop shortcut and the actual file in the specified location

@dingles67 This is strange. Is there anything unusual about your Windows 10 machine? What exactly happens when you try running the .exe?

I had similar problem some time ago (No Unify GUI during the first run after installation). Than I checked the Windows Task Manager and found out that the Unify is running as a background process, but it's not responding to "End Task" command - the only solution was to restart the computer. That was the very early version of Unify and the problem simply disappeared when I updated to the newer version.

@dingles67 Please check the Windows Task Manager as suggested by @robert-p.

Also, please try installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. This link https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/vc_redist.x64.exe is a Microsoft link; it's perfectly safe. After installing, please restart your PC and then try Unify one more time.

If you haven't already, please UnifySupport@PlugInGuru.com. That's John and Taylor. They are in Portland, Oregon. I'm in Ontario, Canada, a VERY long distance away.

I'd like to help you, but it's difficult when you provide so little information. Please answer ALL of the following:

  1. Tell me about your computer system. What audio hardware do you have? MIDI interface?
  2. Do you use this computer for other audio/music applications? Which ones? Does it work perfectly for those?
  3. When you double-click Unify.exe and nothing happens, please check Windows Task Manager. Does Unify appear anywhere in it?
  4. Did you ever try the Unify Demo on that computer? Did it work OK?
