*sic!* You might have heard of this bug however didn´t find any comment to this but after my update to 1.0.12 and rebuilding the database all favorites have gone. Anything I´m doing wrong maybe?

I don't think it's anything you're doing wrong. There is a mechanism to preserve favorites across DB rebuilds (Unify saves a "favorites.xml" file with the current favorites in it, then rebuilds, then re-loads favorites from the xml file), but it seems to fail a lot. We don't yet understand why.

Well - mine is empty.

Seems the workaround is to save every fav in the user lib.

the first time I rebuilt it did the same to me. Then with update 1.0012 everything went well and the favorites were kept. hard to understand what's going on.

@getdunne Hey Shane- I've had this problem with favorites too.  Where are they stored?  My favorites.xml file is empty, yet when I go to Unify, all the "hearts" are still there so they must be someplace.  I'm reluctant to refresh the patch list because I lost them all last time.

Current favorites are stored in the patch database. The favorites.xml file is re-created just before the database is rebuilt. Whatever is in your favorites.xml file now reflects the list of patches you had marked as favorites the last time you rebuilt the database, which might well be empty.

This mechanism has always worked in my testing, but we get periodic reports that sometimes it fails. I don't yet understand why. Basically, until I can reproduce the problem, I can't fix it. We need to gather enough anecdotal evidence for me to figure out how to reproduce it here.

@getdunne Hey- so, favorites stayed intact when I rebuilt the patch list.  Yea!  And my favorites.xml now has data in it too. Thanks.

Hello, for the first time, my favorites have been damaged. I understood that Shane was working to find the problem.
Several questions :
1) Why the file "favorites.xml" is not read when opening Unify?
2) Can you confirm the operation? The favorites are stored elsewhere in the program and are written to the "Favorites.xml" file only during the reconstruction of the base of the patches, never when Unify is closed. So there is no point in retrieving a backup of the "favorites.xml" file (question 1).
Cordially.

1. favorites.xml is not read when opening Unify. It is only read once, directly after rebuilding the patch database.

2. The point of making a backup of favorites.xml and patches.db is so you can send them to me, to see if I can figure out what went wrong.

I appreciate everyone's patience with this. I still have absolutely no idea why this operation occasionally fails.

Thanks Shane ; if the whole community thinks of bringing you back all the actions that precede the bug, I think you will get there. You are the best. For me, the only thing I did was update the Obsession library. I would try to collect more information in the future. Good end of weekend.
