Assignable preset buttons located below patch description would be handy. 8 buttons should be adequate.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking for. Could you explain in a bit more detail?

Buttons that can be assigned commonly used patches. Each button contains a patch. Instead of searching for the same patch from browser pane. Having this ability will help performers easily create musical sets. Users could set each of these buttons for commonly used patches or store template patches. Some synths have these assignable buttons for commonly used patches.

An easy way of exporting and importing user patches for use on another computer or as a backup. Also, sharing and/or syncing my patches with an online community database, like Cableguys plugins, in the future.

I would like that to have, too.

Meanwhile you can always make a subset for different uses.

You can tag a sound that is used in many set lists/songs/genres by tagging it with different tags and use the browser for fast access.

I believe an exit Unify alert should be implemented in the next version of Unify. You can easily forget to save your patch before exiting Unify or accidentally close Unify. When exiting Unify an alert box appears to remind you to save or discard patch. A check box on the exit alert box could be used to turn off future alerts. You can reactivate exit alert box in your settings. If a current loaded patch hasn't been altered then Unify will not display exit alert box.

I'm definitely not a GUI expert, so I don't know which way is best for this. Maybe "turn off" the green dot completely when nothing is set?
But as I said, this is really not an important thing right now. More important that John and Dunne can focus on the bigger problems that some users seem to have. I myself basically had no problems at all, just an old plugin that does not want to be read (Pad Farm2 from Line 6) which does not matter at all for me.

Warn before leaving an unsaved patch.

You edit a patch, make a bunch of changes; but as soon as you switch to a different patch all is lost if you forgot to save.

So when I save a patch, it always asks me for a filename. I'd back up that file or copy it to another computer, or send to another user... is that not what you're looking for?

I promise I'll add an "are you sure?" check to Unify in an early update. I agree you should get a warning before your edits vanish!

playing live I want to quickly load the next sound in the playlist, but I can imagine the save before exit query when (accidentally) exiting Unify.

About saving options @lowell and @stevek109 mentioned:

I might want to quick save a variation while tweaking. Could Unify quick-save refinements like

• my-favorite-sound
• my-favorite-sound.1 
• my-favorite-sound.2

with an auto save time interval? Would that be a good solution?

Please, let us choose a different AU folder for scanning...

I can't scan my AU because of Synposos problem... Anyway I don't wanna use in Unify all my AU plugs...

I could actually remove unwanted plugs from AU folder, scan in Unify and put my plugs back on AU folder but if it is possible please let us select another folder.

Ideally, Aliases or symbolic link but no DAW (with their personal AU/VST Folders) see them...

please try out if you can drag and drop the AU components you want to install on Unify's plugin page.

It works for me on a few AU plugins I tried out.

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components is the standard folder, though you might find some in

/Users/YourFriendlyUserName/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

you want to install. Does that work for you?
