Macro Buttons not working in Serum with MIDI Box

Good day. I just got Serum yesterday (purchased Acid Pro 10 Suite on sale for $199.00, as it came with Serum), so it justified the price a bit more.

I set up the Serum macro knobs to work with the Pluginguru Kamoji pack and everything worked fine but when I added MIDI Box, the Macro Buttons did not respond in Serum. I managed to find a workaround, by adding the Zenith plugin after MIDI Box as a MIDI effect and then linking the MACRO buttons to it, which in turn controls the Macros in Serum with the included Serum MIDI MAP but this adds unnecessary CPU usage. It's odd though, as the mod wheel still works in Serum. Anyone else have this issue when using Serum? Another issue is that the parameter link names for the Macros in Serum are not static - they change according to what you name the macro buttons in Serum, so this will also probably cause the links to the macro button links to break, should you change the presets... Glad I finally found a use for Zenith though...

@jason_za

You may need to enable "All CCs" under "MIDI Pass-Thru" in MIDIBox. See https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=midibox#controls_relating_to_midi_input_output

Thanks a lot, Shane - I will try this out. I do usually refer to the manual on a need-to-know basis but wouldn't have thought of this.

Hi Shane. Thanks for the info. This does work but the links to the Unify macro buttons break when you change presets in Serum, since the Serum macro names change from preset to preset. Using Zenith is a workaround (currently 25% off @ $59.25) https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/53-Multi-Effect-/5980-Zenith ), to maintain the Macro knob links even when changing presets but it is rather expensive - even on special...

@jason_za Jason you might try saving the selected Serum patch as a unify patch to see if the links remain, when you select that patch in Unify. So create a layer, change instrument to serum, make sure you have your macros setup, hit save in Unify and Name it what you want, Set the Library or create a new library for your serum patches, select "Save as" then hit save in the next window.

Hi @pbeprod.

Appreciate the feedback. I did save as a Unify patch but the links to the Unify macros break when I select another preset. From what I can see, this is due to the macro names in Serum being dynamic, i.e. they change based on the macro names for each preset.

Using Zenith as a MIDI effect gives me the freedom to scroll through the presets in Serum and use the applicable macros from these presets with my Unify macro knobs.

I have attached a copy of the parameter links that pop up when I try to set the parameter links for Serum to the macro knobs in Unify. These change for every preset, unless some have the same macro names.
