Hi Gents,

I was trying to set up a MIDI Control 20 which I recorded as a MIDI file (as attached) but I cannot get MIDIBOX to play the CC when I put MIDIBOX as the MIDI Source for my Unify Instrument.

So to clarify, my VST Instrument is Arche Violin (by Expressive) in which I have linked using UNIFY the 'BOW' variable to my CC20.  I can play the bow using my MIDI controller linked using the unify macro set to CC20 and it all works.

I am not playing notes in the MIDI file just CC20.  I can see the timer bar playing when I a press a note but it seems as though the CC20 is not getting to the instrument.  I make sure the pass through for Notes is on and I have tested that by clicking it and playing notes through the MIDIBOX channel and manually controlling CC20 via my MIDI controller.

I'm using the latest unify 1.1.10.

Thanks,

Chris

@chrisg-uk

The issue here is MIDI routing. Unify's macro knobs are only controlled by MIDI messages on the MIDI stream coming into Unify. There is presently no way to connect them to the output of a MIDI layer.

I will give some thought to how we might allow this kind of routing in a future update of Unify.

Ordinarily, the way you would do this is to use the specific plug-in's own MIDI/parameter assignment (aka "MIDI Learn") capability to set up the required routing within the plug-in, but I had a quick look at the Arché Violin manual, and it doesn't appear to do this.

@getdunne Thanks for that Shane. I was trying to look through the videos to see if I could do it and obviously it’s not there at the moment.

You can see what I was doing, basically using the cc to bow for me via the MIDI pattern and then I would play notes on top.  The only other way for me to do this automatic bowing is to copy the control pattern onto another track in cubase and record the notes on another for ease of editing.

It would be good if we could map to the macro knobs from the MIDI player. I will wait to see if you can conjure something that works.  I have faith in you! 😀

Thanks for all your hard work.  I am really investing time into creating patches in Unify and it has been so refreshing to use and to mix all my softwares in one.

Cheers, Chris
