I don't know if you have either of these synths, but frequently, in Cakewalk by Bandlab, when I load an instance of Synthmaster 2.9 synth or player in Unify in the first instrument slot, and play the factory preset SQ Happy Days, hold middle C for about 4 or 5 seconds, whatever note the sequence is on when I release the key latches, and to stop it, I have to click the emergency midi kill in Unify.

This does not occur in the stand alone version of Unify with the same setup as above.

The problem also does not occur with Synthmaster synth or player when loaded directly in Cakewalk by Bandlab.

I have both SynthMaster and SynthMaster One, but I can't test this right now. I bought the KV331 "Everything Pack" and not only can I not get the new patch libraries, SynthMaster has become unusable because it's stuck in a loop trying to get them. I've reported this to their tech support but I don't have a solution yet.

Any other SynthMaster / Cakewalk by Bandlab users: Can you offer any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that. I just purchased a couple of their libraries for Synthmaster, and got the player free. At $18 for the two libraries, it was a no brainer, especially since the libraries I bought had patches from Kraftwerk, and I'm a fan. Then I was able to upgrade to Synthmaster 2.9 for $35. Everything worked great for both the player and the synth to import the two libraries I bought.

Have you tried uninstalling everything, and reinstalling one at a time (i.e. Synthmaster 2.9 alone), then trying to install one of the libraries?

BTW, Cakewalk by Bandlab is free, and it's a great DAW. It is pretty much the full version of Sonar before it was killed by Gibson.

I have Cakewalk by Bandlab, and have done some tests with it. I can't test your case because SynthMaster is not working.

I may try the "uninstall everything" approach, but I'll wait for a response from KV331 support first. SynthMaster reports that several libraries were built with a newer version, but I have the very latest. I think it may be a problem with their library files.

I just upgraded to the everything library, and had the same issue. However, if you keep clicking OK endlessly, it actually ends and then the plugin works. I also submitted a support request. I first tried it in my DAW and thought it was in an endless loop, so I killed the DAW then went back in and the plugin worked. However, only a small number of the expansion banks had installed. Then I went into the stand alone version and tried again to scan for the missing banks, and after clicking OK many times, it actually ended and said it was successful. It also seemed that the plugins were installed. The names of some of the ones that came up in the message were not even included in the purchase as far as I could see. It just took a few minutes of clicking to finish.

Thanks for the update. Please let me know if you get a response from KV331. They haven't responded to me yet. The error messages I get say that the problem preset banks were "saved with a newer version of SynthMaster". I know they're working on SynthMaster v3.0, and I'm wondering if they already converted some of the banks and replaced the downloads prematurely.

That is the same message that I get (over and over with different preset names).

Even now, when I load the stand alone version, I have to click that message 9 times. However, in the VST version, I do not have that problem any longer.

I will definitely let you know if I hear from them.

I got this response from KV331 this morning:

Hi Martin,

Sorry for the issue. Please ignore those warnings. Those are expansions for SynthMaster One and we will fix this issue very soon.

Best wishes,

KV331 Audio Team

Needless to say, I did not click the link. I don't know why SynthMaster One expansions would affect the install of Synthmaster 2.9.

I got this today from KV331.

You can check your expansions at  https://synthmaster.com/synthmasterexpansions.aspx

All the best

They are kind of hard to ignore. I had to click "OK" about 50 times during the installation, and 9 times each time I open the stand alone version of Synthmaster 2.9.

I did not have this problem with Synthmaster One. Only with Synthmaster 2.9.

After continuously clicking these messages for quite a long time, I was finally able to get Synthmaster 2.9 open in my DAW (Cakewalk by Bandlab), but I am not confident that it installed all of the content that I purchased with the Everything Bundle.

I also got responses from Gercek, including a link to a video showing how to download patches for SynthMaster One, which I never saw on their web site. I was able to get all the patches, but now I'm dealing with missing samples/waveforms. They seem to have some fairly fundamental problems, but are responding to tech support issues as though each case was something rare and unique, rather than admitting they have serious issues. This is all too common in technology companies.

I have been a user of the KV331 synths for many years and I recommend going into it accepting things will be an up and down ride.  I think their synths can do very well and I haven't really heard negatives about the synths themselves.  But there are constant inconsistencies where everything is almost there but some issue creeps through destroying the whole experience.

As such, I don't use them as much as I'd like because I can't count on stability from one update to the next.  It's really unfortunate because I really like the sound.  I monitor customer thoughts and wait until things seem stable before installing an update.  They ARE good at releasing continual updates and the developer is very active in the community.
