Hi Les,
This is all due to the activities of scammers who every day try to use our forum as a billboard for their advertising. I kill off these scam accounts every day, and their posts are usually held for moderation, which is why you don't see them. However, it seems you do get email indicating that they have posted new junk comments. I'm sorry about that, but there's nothing I can do about it.
I suggest you go ahead and un-subscribe from these update emails, and instead just log into the forum every few days and click on "unread posts" at the bottom right, to see what's new.
