@getdunne

Hey I'm trying to figure out a way using Minimal Audio's Sounds to where it will trigger the sound while holding the note so it will start from the beginning and start playing the sound to a random point then start again go to a random point in the sound and over and over again til released. Also if I can limit how soon the sound will restart. This would be helpful when manipulating Ambient sounds.  Quiet a few of them swell up and down, which gets boring after a while. Any ideas, or I guess this would be more of a feature request. Kinda thought that this might be something related to triggerbox, or maybe something for Midibox? Might require a smoothing feature like you added to Pumphouse

I'm not sure what you're asking. Minimal Audio has many products. Are you talking about using their WAV sounds in Guru Sampler?

@getdunne yes I’ve created the first library and making a few z patches and while creating patches I keep trying to think of ways to manipulate them without using wave sequences, but I guess there are ways to do the enable layer trick, but thought doing a one shot from wave start, at random lengths would be cool with the atmospheric sounds. I’m setting the sounds up individually in a single layer, and others that have more pronounced transients I’ve put them through Recycle to create looping and tempo lock and I’ve tuned them using a sine wave. But all patches include native VSTs included in Unify and Guru Sampler. Hopefully this answers your question.

Thanks for clarifying. You've presented some very interesting ideas here, essentially wave slicing but with dynamic/randomizable control over the slice boundaries. I'll give some thought to these ideas.

The new library sounds very interesting!

Hey,

I've noticed a few things about the Windows Standalone version after a while of changing the waveform in Guru Sampler it quits updating the Layer "Title" bar. It remains what it was before. It works flawlessly in the VST version. I've been Copy & pasting the Guru State to speed things up in fixing the patches, due to the fact that I had another virus attack, this time 2 viruses showed up resulting in the same affect, the standalone version was removed. I do a scan and no other viruses are found. It's really irritating so for now I guess I'll stick with the .dll version. For some reason Windows Security and Virus won't scan external or internal extra ssd drives, it just sits there. The only one it seems to worry about is the C: Drive. Go figure.

Also does the option + Save not "quick save" in the Windows DAW version?

Automatic updating of the layer title only happens if (a) you have not explicitly edited the layer title to anything but the empty string, and (b) the instrument plug-in on that layer provides a non-blank string to the host as the "current program name". Guru Sampler always satisfies condition (b), so the most likely reason it would seem to stop updating is that you may have explicitly set the title at some point.

I can promise you that no binary version of Unify contains any viruses, so it should be safe to designate any of them (e.g. Unify.exe, Unify.dll, Unify.vst3) as exceptions to your antivirus software, so it won't automatically delete them.

Option on Mac = ALT on Windows. ALT + Save certainly does perform a quick update in the plug-in versions of Unify inside a DAW.

@getdunne 10-4 on everything, but for some reason when I try to quick save it opens the save dialogue every time on my PC Laptop and Desktop. I’ll re-examine the standalone title bar thing. It is possible I changed the layer name at some point. I’ve got 22 patches left to fix then I’m sending a copy to Minimal Audio first to see if the formatting is good, and no changes need to be made then I’ll get it to you for encryption. Thanks!

@getdunne Hey I finished the library and then compressed it to .zip file, then changed that to a .guru file but when I dropped it on the mac version, it didn't install? Am I missing a step? Maybe I need to start the process on the mac instead? I got it work once when we were doing the Collective library but the last few times it hasn't work. I moved the "Library" folder to the Mac and compressed it, it wouldn't let me alter the extension without going into the INFO of the file then it ask me to change the extension. I tried installing it and it did nothing still. I visually checked my Library folder and its not showing there, just to make sure that it just wasn't refreshing the library database fully.  I tried installing on my PC Laptop and it installed correctly there. The install process for a unify library should be universal right?

Thanks

I have emailed you directly about this. The problem is almost certainly with the folder structure within the .guru file. A correctly-built .guru file should indeed install on either PC or Mac systems, but it can be tricky to get the structure just right.

UPDATE for the benefit of anyone else reading this in future: The problem turned out to be that Kendall's new library folder was the top-level folder inside the .guru file. The result was that when Unify unzipped it, it put this folder beside the main Libraries folder, instead of within it.

When making your own .guru file for a library, the top-level folder in the .zip file (which you rename as .guru) must be called Libraries, with your actual library folder inside that.

At some point, I may make a utility program to create .guru files, so it's no longer necessary to create them manually, and thus simple mistakes like this wouldn't happen.
