Hey guys.
I am running latest version of unify.
And serum vst or au.
I have the latest version of FL studio 21.2
When i open serum and play the plugin inside FL studio it works perfectly.
But whenever i open serum inside unify either au or vst it pops and cracks when playing . Like a small reverb echo when i press or release the keys.
Any idea what is wrong?
It seems like a problem inside of unify as serum works outside.

@evenfell

Are you on a Mac or PC?

One important thing about Serum: on the Global page, under "Preferences", switch off "Silence Note + Effect tails when host transport stops" and click the little disk icon next to the heading "Preferences" to save the change. This may fix the issue for you.

I am on a macm1. Latest os.

I have tried that workaround, and unfortunately that does not help.

Still that strange crackle.
As far I have read that is not uncommon in Serum, but it only happens when i open serum inside unify.
I tried now to save that setting in both VST and AU format. Still the same.

Then loaded Serum in channel rak in FL studio, loaded the same preset, and no crackle at all.
Even with "Silence Note + Effect tails when host transport stops" on again.

I have also tried to increase buffer. Does not help.

I have seen several posts on reddit or videos on yt such as this

Not directly to unify, but serum.
The moment you either trigger a note or release a note in serum inside unify it seems like its cutting the audio to quick.
Someone else here using Mac m1 that has the same problem?

This specific issue hasn't been reported before that I know of, so I'm wondering if it's specific to FL Studio on the M1. Two things to try:

  1. Whenever using Unify in FL Studio, you must always set "Use fixed-size buffers" (see image below). Image-Line keeps insisting that only "buggy plug-ins" require this, but this is rubbish--see e.g. https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=490542
  2. If #1 does not fix the issue, please go to Unify's Transport view and change the "trigger" setting to anything other than "MIDI / Quick Stop", and let me know if that makes any improvement.

Finally, please note that the next version of Unify, currently in beta-test, has some very new code to improve performance on Apple Silicon CPUs. Testing seems to be going well, so we hope to have this update out very soon.

Nr 2 seems to fix the problem.

Whenever start/stop in midi was set to automatic it cracked like before.

Then i changed this to manual, it worked.

I tried nr1 first that did not solve it as long as nr2 was automatic.

Thanks for the swift reply and solution
