Manual Start/Stop mode is triggered by key and functions as Manual Stop mode now.

One Shot mode in MIDI box now restarts correctly again, but "one shot" still does not latch and stops playing when key released. So it is still impossible to trigger long midi clip ONCE and till the end, if clip is of 2 minutes then one need to have latch on a layer or hold a note for 2 minutes.

Also i had a thought - it is nice to have GATE SCALE knob, as we have Vel Scale. Then it is possible to correct f.e 16th pulsing bass to appropriate midi gating without need to create another midi clip.

Setting up to play a long MIDI file is a little bit complicated. I have attached a zipped .guru file (unzip it, then drag/drop into Unify) which puts a single new patch called SONG - Latched MIDI 1-shot Demo into your User Library, and also a MIDI file which I got from the Internet. From the patch description:

Play F below middle C (F2) to toggle latching on both INST1 and the Transport.
INST1 will play the bass line from the 70s synth-pop hit "Popcorn", using MIDIBox in 1-shot/key mode.
The INST1 layer is also set to LM (Latch Mono) because the 1-shot/key mode needs to see a held MIDI
note to synchronize playback. The Transport is in MIDI/Latch mode, so it will run from bar 1 every time,
and keep going until triggered off by another F2.

The only reason I used F2 is because I'm working with a small keyboard myself, and I don't know what size keyboard you use. You would normally change to something like C1, or whatever is the lowest (or highest) note on your keyboard - one you're unlikely to use when playing. To set both INST1 and the Transport to a new trigger-key, right-click BOTH note-boxes that now say F2 in both the INST layer and the Transport, and hit the key you want to use on your MIDI keyboard (or change manually).

Briefly:

  • The plain "one-shot" mode is probably not what you want, because all it does is follow the Transport. This can be useful in a DAW.
  • I'm using the "one-shot/key" mode, which:
    • only plays while a key is down (MIDI note-on starts the playback, note-off stops it)
    • always restarts from bar 1 in the sequence (or whatever you designate in MIDIBox)
  • This is why I have configured the INST1 layer in latch mode, so it latches the trigger note so you don't have to hold it down.
  • I also configured the Transport to latch on the same trigger-note, so
    • The transport will keep running while the sequence plays (hence so will any BPM instruments you add to the patch)
    • The transport also always restarts from bar 1 (so everything stays in sync)

Also i had a thought - it is nice to have GATE SCALE knob, as we have Vel Scale. Then it is possible to correct f.e 16th pulsing bass to appropriate midi gating without need to create another midi clip.

I'm not sure I understand you. Can you elaborate?

I noticed that ONe Shot does not start to play if was shooted, played till the end and then TRANSPORT was stopped. After if i press a note in manual/stop mode - playback starts - one shot does not. Requires to switch to loop mode and play, then back and all works again.

As in midi sequencers, gate time as a knob to decrease or increase (in percentage) NOTE LENGTH of all notes in clip.

Latch is working OK with this mode except - one need to press twice to retrigger One Shot.

Note Off in One Shot mode on last trigerred note is not sent automatically and layer stays latched.
Now to play it again i should first unlatch a note which was used to trigger a layer.
IF I USE ANOTHER NOTE - it works immediately.

Long clip was an example - but really try to use it for a multiple one shot breaks or FX. So if in the perfomance i triggered a break or some FX... and after 8 bars i try to trigger it again - i fail. Because of..

Excellent suggestion, thank you. I have put this on the to-do list.

I'll give some thought to this. I hope the template I've provided will be useful to you, perhaps if you adapt it a bit.

Thank i will experiment with it now.
I want also to repeat this, it looks as a bug actually, two:
- transport manual start/stop mode reakts to key trigger and

- one shot does not restart after being shooted and transport stop
All goods! thank you for Unify!

Yes, those are bugs! Well spotted. The pure one-shot mode is so rarely used, it doesn't get thoroughly tested.

The first bug is easy to fix, and I fixed it already in the code here. The second one is more complex and will require very careful testing. I will be working on it.

OH, i recalled another thing about MIDI BOX to test - it sims that MIDI BOX can sometime give hanging notes, i tried to understand how it happens... in another post i reported controllers sent... BUT... i have a feeling that MID box sometime looses note offs - when i play LEGATO. I have this effect when i trigger u-he synth (Ace, Diva). They by they own give hanging notes sometime. But triggering them with 16th notes and playing legato makes them hang more often...
