Hi,

I am missing the PG8X Plugin, did you remove it for some reason?

Regards,
Chris

Check this:

https://forums.pluginguru.com/questions-about-unify-v1-0/pg-8x-not-included-in-pluginguru-unify-vst-folder/#post-3079

And it is still possible to download PG-8X from here:

@saif_sameer Thanks for posting those links -- and saving me the trouble of hunting down that first one!

A small update concerning PG-8X: Martin Lüders, author of PG-8X, is working on making his creation open-source, but it's a difficult process because the code is old and has many dependencies on older code resources. Anyone interested in supporting his efforts should consider making a donation via the yellow Donate button at the bottom of his main web page: https://sites.google.com/site/mlvst0/.

Thank you, I did not know about this. Yesterday before the 1.4 Update I used a Patch that used the PG8X, after the 1.4 Update it was gone.
I searched my Timemachine Backup now for the old files in the Unify Programs folder and put them back where they were.

Note you can also simply install PG-8x in one of your regular VST folders and drag/drop it into Unify's Known Plug-Ins list, just as you would with any other third-party plug-in. In fact, this is the recommended approach, because any future Unify update is likely to wipe out any manual changes you make under the /Applications folder.

Hi,

Installed 1.4 update without any issues but when ope the Unify can't see. 1.4 in the Tags section on the right as John has shown in his last video on Youtube. At the top left corner of the main screen is showing 1.4 STD.

@elysiuman

The 1.4 installer (.exe on Windows, .pkg on Mac) only updates the software. You also need to drag/drop the .guru file into the Unify GUI (or use the green "Select .guru file..." button in Settings if you can't drag/drop) to update the content.

I see in video that it is now possible to switch layers on or off with a controller. this is a good step. studio one 5.2 now support sound variations. it allow controller sends for articulations. so it is possible to send controller sequences to enable disable layers of a sound. I only do not know how this work in unify and how i can this implement in sound variations. here is studio one sound variation video so you can see how this work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxvZDfra4sE&t=4s

so how i can use it with unify sounds to select layers ?

This is very interesting; I didn't know about the articulations feature in Studio One.

The basic technique for using MIDI CC messages to switch layers on/off is to connect the specific CC number to one of Unify's macro knobs, and then add a link to one of the new layer-control parameters (primarily unify/midiEnable/<layer number>). Unfortunately, these new parameters are not yet available easily on a menu, so you have to add a link to some other parameter first (can be anything), then double-click the link text and type in e.g. "unify/midiEnable/1" and hit Enter.

These new layer-control features are still experimental and a bit raw at this point. They'll get better in future updates!

I tried this in Studio One Pro 5.2 and it works great.

Here's a short YouTube video I made to demonstrate the idea.

https://youtu.be/P6_BhNAEqo8

The steps shown in the video are ...

1. In Studio One in a new project create an instrument track with the Unify plugin.

2. Load a suitable patch in Unify e.g. STACK - 8 Layers ALIVE, and set up a macro knob in Unify to enable/disable a layer as per Shane's instructions using for example cc 33

3. In Studio One record a few bars of playing and then open the MIDI editor (F2) and click on the sound variation tab.

4. Click on the wrench to edit sound variations and click on "New Variation" then add 2 new ones, named e.g. "layer 1 on" and "layer 1 off".

5. Click on the right hand side under Activation Sequence and under "Type" select Controller. Set the values to cc 33 for Data. In one variation set the Data 2 value to 0 and 127 in the other.

You can now drag/drop these variations on the variation tab track to enable/disable the Unify layer at specific times.

Repeat the above for as many layers as you want.

@getdunne if you have no studio one 5.2. Sound variations is possible in the prime version which is free. https://www.presonus.com/products/studio-one/compare-versions

Thank you for the reminder. I had Studio One Prime v4 already, and had forgotten that the Prime edition is free. I just upgraded to Prime v5 now.

for the layer switching it is also usefull to have groups as samplers(to mute a open hghhat when a closed high hat is hit for example).  when have a group for layer switch too, then can choose for the bass layers group 2, drums group 1.  and when select a layer at group 1, then the other layers of group 1 are switch off

Broken feature in 1.4?

Right click i browser and select "Add all layers to current patch" doesn't seem to work. It replaces all layers. (Windows).

Alt+click does.

"Add INST 1 layer to current patch" adds Midi layer in addition to INST layer. Is that by design? In that case the " entry name" is a bit misleading.

Oh my! Thanks for spotting that. I will investigate today!

UPDATE: Fixed. This change will go out to beta testers this week, and should be included in the next maintenance update (probably mid-May).

Is it also possible to not add the AUX1 layer when using "Add INST1 layer to current patch"? I find myself ALT-clicking afterwards to remove all of the AUX layers added in the process of adding a few patches like this. Thanks.

That's correct. There are no content updates for v1.5, so we're just including the v1.4 .guru files for those that might need them.

@getdunne Looks like you offer two different installers, one for new and one for update. Perhaps the update installer doesn't need the .guru file? I was wondering too why it was there in the update version.

@berndpdx

The only reason the updater includes the .guru file is that a few users might be updating from a version prior to v1.4.
