Unify has started crashing when i load certain patches in standalone and in Cubase. The patches that crash seem to be different each time.
Did not have this problem before.
Modular Piano 01
zsynth Dark Side
opia - bass synth bend
zkey - massive attack
zkey piano padding
are some of the other Lab patches crashing
I just noticed on the Spitfire App, there is a repair feature. If you select that it will reinstall the problem libraries and fix them.
So i'm sorted !
LABS has serious memory bugs. We have an ongoing discussion with Spitfire Audio support staff. You can help by contacting them; please see this post: https://forums.pluginguru.com/postid/8492/
@getdunne Ok thanks, i will contact Spitfire because it's still crashing. I'm getting an 404 error when click on that link
Sorry, that post I linked to was on our beta-testers' section of the forum, which isn't public. Here's what it said:
This is a known issue with the LABS plug-in, which I have reported to Spitfire Audio. It affects every host, not just Unify.
Please report it to Spitfire yourself, as I've been told this will raise the priority for them:
- Go to https://spitfireaudio.com
- Click on "Help" at the top
- Click "Submit a request"
- Reference open support ticket number 169679
- Please tell them you love using LABS in Unify while you're at it!
@getdunne Thanks Shane, i contacted them this morning and got a reply saying
Your request (171592) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff .
Hi There!
I've submitted the referenced open-ticket above as well to SPITFIRE. Not only does LABS crashes when trying to load inside Unify Stand-Alone (MacOS Catalina 10.15.7) BUT it freezes up my external SSD and knocks it offline. I had to power off and on my external SSD drive to get it back online. I'm wondering if this would potential harm/damage the external SSD when not properly ejecting the drive?
@daren Hi, Cubase 10.5 crashed when i tried LABS as a plugin, which Spitfire are aware of.
Shane: you probably already have this. Spitfire has a beta release that fixes the Labs leak. Several weeks ago I reported the problem (as you had recomended); today (5/5/2021) Spitfire sent me a beta for Labs vst3's and vsti's that seems to have fixed the problem. I have tried the beta version (vst 64bit version) and tested it in Unify 1.5. Great news--I have not had a crash all morning. I tried every category and instrument from Labs and many of the user added presets in the most recent Unified Labs download. Everything seems to work fine.
Again, you probably already have received this.

Yes, I'm aware of this. THANK YOU to you and everyone else who contacted them to get this sorted out!
Yes, I got a message from Angus at LABS also with the beta update.
And today it was my turn to also get the beta from Angus - and running a quick test by going through about 100 Unify patches in the Unified - Spitfire LABS library - it was rock solid throughout.
Cubase 12 Pro, Win 10 Pro (x64), several different midi controllers
Thanks to you all for pursuing this with Spitfire. I wonder when they'll release the update for the rest of us not on the Beta? Hoping soon because the crashes prevent me from using LABS, and I relied on those various instruments a lot before this problem arose.
The word from Spitfire is that they'll be releasing this fix as part of a larger update which isn't ready to ship yet.
I'm pretty sure Spitfire Audio will send you the beta if you just contact them and ask for it, especially if you mention that you're a Unify user.
