Unify open makes Nuendo sluggish

Hi,

As soon as Unify interface is open Nuendo becomes sluggish. The play cursor doesn't go smooth anymore and dragging a block across the screen and positioning it is very hard because it behaves like the Mac is very busy with other things. Doesn't matter if there is a small or huge patch loaded.

With other VSTs its not behaving like this.  btw the exception is VPS Avenger. same issue.

although it's not a major problem for me, I thought you wanted to know this.

Regards,

Geert.

Do you mean it's only sluggish when the Unify GUI is open, and it's fine when the GUI is closed?

We've had a few very rare reports like this, although this is the first from a Mac user. What kind of Mac do you have, and are you using anything unusual for graphics? I'm interested to know anything you can tell us, which could help track this down.

OK, you have an iMac. Are you using the built-in monitor, or do you have anything special connected, like an eGPU?

(I'm using a Windows machine here, which makes it very difficult to read that .spx file.)

High Sierra 10.13.6 (AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB)

I did some further testing with various VSTi's and found that with Unfiltered Audio Lion its game over. The interface isn't responsive anymore. The cursor is completely frozen.

So you think if it is the limitations of the graphicscard then a very complex animated interface like U-he Bazille must give horrible performance as well. But no, completely smooth.

So my question is, is it related to hardware acceleration or something like that.

Yes I'm sure it's a graphics acceleration issue. Thanks for the additional details, especially about Lion. I'll try to seek some expert advice about this.

@getdunne

In a few days i'm getting my new imac. the 2019 version. much faster and inside is a newer Radeon GPU.

will let you know if the sluggishness maintains, or that it has to do with the older type cards

Maybe IT helps. With a downgrade to Unify 1.3 this Problems disapear.

Wilfried do plan my Future Setup with UnRaid in a dual CPU Maschine. Its been necessary for my VSL Libary. There are 2 Systems now where Dolby Atmos Runs integrated inside the DAW. One is Nuendo 11 and the other is Davinci Resolve. Dolby Atmos needs for production and Master Render a Mac. And to get Natural Sounds Movements you need a tripple Trackball system Joysticks will not work.

Anyways in my Hackintosh based System i did Upgrade now for Catalina. Mojave can not Support Atmos and M1 also not.

In fact 1.3 is in my opinion more robust
