Hi Shane

I'm still having issues with Omnisphere (and any other VST that pops up an interaction type window). When Omnisphere is on a layer in Unify and I "Initialise the multi" a small window appears behind the main VST interface. The system is now effectively locked as I can't move the main Omnisphere window to reach it and the requester box is out of sight but has "locked" further interaction. In the worst situation I have to shut Studio One down losing work. This on Windows 7 (latest Studio One Pro).

@padster13 Thanks for reporting. Sorry you're having these problems. These things are very difficult to track down, but it's on our list!

@getdunne OK Shane - Thanks. I know you must have a shed load to do so I'll be patient. It is getting better and better though 👍

Hi Shane

When Omnisphere is on a layer in Unify and I "Initialise the multi" a small window appears behind the main VST interface. The system is now effectively locked as I can't move the main Omnisphere window to reach it and the requester box is out of sight but has "locked" further interaction. In the worst situation I have to shut Studio One down losing work. This on Windows 7 (latest Studio One Pro).

The only problem I have had with windows and Omnisphere when I load a multi, is a message saying something in the multi can't be found. This happens to me because I have some multis that require the MOOG Omnisphere library, which I did not purchase but some people have used in their multis. It is only an informational message. It does get focus, but you can't see it in Unify (of course you can always download the free utility TurboTop which will let you bring the message to the top). Since it has focus, all you have to do is hit Enter to respond to the informational message and clear it. No need to shut the DAW.

Before TurboTop, I used to right click in the system tray on the icon for the DAW. This will show you the windows that are open in association with the DAW session ... at least a thumb nail of those windows. If you do this, you can left click on the thumb of the message window. This will not bring up the message but it will assure that windows has put focus on the message. Once you click it, the tab key will let you select a response that is appropriate.

If I have Kontakt up in Unify and want to replace an nki, Kontakt will ask if I want to save the nki in its current state, not save it or cancel the new nki load. The thumbnail will show you that the response is set for "YES", I usually want to answer "NO". Therefore, right click to see the thumb, click on the message thumb with your mouse and then I hit TAB and then Enter. This moves to the "NO" response to the message and applies it. I can't see the actual effect on the message window, but it does work.

actually I noticed the same thing with the interaction windows that open. They are hidden and inaccessible. even with the "alt tab" function .

it's a blocking point

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Yes that does work and I also found that I can right click the small thumbnail in the Task Bar and select "close window". Closing the window only gives you the opportunity to move Omnisphere (or any othe VST blocking interaction) out of the way so that retrying the procedure doesn't obscure the popup. I'm sure that Shane will look at this when it falls into his priorities for the to-do-list.

You can find a workaround in this topic:

https://forums.pluginguru.com/questions-about-unify-v1-0/cannot-use-omnisphere-multis-while-in-cubase-10-pro/#post-2182

"Hold down Alt/Option AND Ctrl while clicking on the Settings icon in Unify. The Settings view will appear, with a couple of extra checkbox items labeled "Plugin Windows (Experimental". Try un-checking "Always on top (in DAW only)"

It works for me

Many thanks. It works for me too on Windows 7 Enterprise. All seems good so far but I've only been using it for 10 mins so not an in depth test 😀

@robert-p Thanks, i was going to report this as bug. I think this should be changed in future versions. Its currently very confusing when you switch to a different window an the plugin window is still in focus and on top.

@aquil

The setting I earlier described as "experimental" is now permanent. Just under the GUI Size menu in the Settings view there is a checkbox labeled "Plugin Windows Always on top (in DAW only)". It's checked by default, which works well in Logic Pro and some other DAWs. For Cubase, you'll probably have better results if it's un-checked.

There is no right answer. This is a fundamental issue with DAWs, because they are based on an assumption that each plug-in requires one and only one window, which the DAW owns and manages. Unify violates this assumption (it opens plug-in windows of its own, which IT manages), so it will always be problematic.
