Producible with Korg M1 vst2 or 4 windows 10 using either Unify standalone or Plugin.

Tested in cubase 12 and live 11

Open gui and mouse movement causes clicks and pops, tested standalone m1. inside bidule and other hosts and the problem does not happen.

Tried different mice but always the same.

Is the Korg M1 plug-in name showing up in white or green text in Unify? If green, that would mean Unify is still loading an older Intel-only version.

Latest version of Korg M1 for Apple Silicon is v2.3.2.0.

Sorry, I just noticed you said Windows, not Mac.

I have installed Korg M1 v2.3.3 and tested in Unify v1.9.1 stand-alone on Windows 10. I was unable to reproduce this.

Questions:

  1. What type of audio output device are you using, and what is your sampling rate and buffer size?
  2. What type of graphics card do you use?
  3. Describe your Unify patch: is it just one instance of Korg M1 on a single layer?

1.Asio steinberg ur44c 128/44.1

2.11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz (onboard)

3.M1 default load patch, multi, but it doesn.t matter what patch is loaded all are the same.

I just tried the same patch in voltage modular stand alone using their mini host module. no issues at all.

Well that's strange. Your CPU is newer than mine, but otherwise system specs are similar. Another Windows user reported audio crackling when using the mouse (a long time ago now), which went away when he switched to on-board graphics. I'm using an Nvidia card myself.

Does Unify's CPU meter jump when you hear the crackles?

Could you please try switching the buffer size to 256, and tell me if the problem persists?

Could you briefly try switching to the internal Windows Audio driver (i.e., to your motherboard audio output), and set your buffer size to 256 if you can?

@getdunne sorry, no way to do that as I don't have onboard audio enabled. i'd have to pull the machine out and it's pretty much plumbed in.

just tested with Machine standalone, and Reason 12 standalone. no issue there either so deffo something happening with Korg and Unity.

I also notice similar glitches using Mdrummer inside Unify.

I understand. Unfortunately my UR44 is inaccessible at the moment (long story) so I can't test with the ASIO driver on my machine for a while. Also I'm tied up with some other work at the moment, so it may be some time before I'm able to do anything significant about this.

In the meantime, if you happen to find any configuration change that makes this issue better or worse (try changing to a different sample rate, or increasing the buffer size to something huge like 1024, for example), please let me know.

This is helpful feedback; thank you. And I thank you for your patience also. Due to my current circumstances, it may be some time before I can even attempt to reproduce this.
