Using Scaler as a midi effect.

Hi, Can anyone help? Is it possible to use Scaler as a midi effect I had added a midi effect layer and loaded scaler, I can only load scaler control I then assign this to my Inst layer but I do not get any sound?

Hi Jim, thanks for bringing your question to the Forum. A couple of ideas to get you started:

The first thing to check is the MIDI light at the far left end of your INST layer. If it's not flashing, then no MIDI is going into the layer; in that case you would look at Scaler itself to find out why it's not generating MIDI. If the MIDI light is flashing, you need to find out why it's not triggering the instrument. Putting an instance of MIDI Monitor on the INST layer will let you see what MIDI messages are coming in. Perhaps the notes are outside the instrument's range, or are coming in on the wrong MIDI channel.

See Shane's @getdunne comments in this thread about the plugin subset fix for Scaler - I can verify that it works correctly, and Scaler correctly outputs MIDI when you do this.

@getdunne Thanks Shane using the fix below from Hexabuzz Scaler now works correctly.

Oh, and you have developed one amazing plugin. I haven't left standalone mode for the last 3 hours combining presets from my VSTs in ways that I would never have thought of 😍  and I haven't even started on Wave sequencing yet, which was what attracted me to Unify in the first place. This is going to add so much to my sound design palette. Can't wait to start resampling and mangling some of the patches Ive built

Thank you, Shane and John
