VIENNA ENSEMBLE PRO and DISCOVER/CORESTATION - How well does UNIFY support the BBC SO plugins when hosted remotely in VEP?

I currently own and use Spitfire BBC SO Pro - but **always** hosted inside the Vienna Ensemble Pro server not locally in my DAWs.

How well does UNIFY + DISCOVER/CORESTATION work when the BBC SO plugins are hosted remotely in VEP?

The VEP remote-access plug-ins are not all that special. Unify should support them as well as any others.

Can any Unify + DiscoverStation + Vienna Ensemble Pro users give more insight?

VEP has more than one way to access it. There is a stand alone VST and AAX that should work with Unify just fine, and there is a server that can be accessed across a network or locally. I can see how you could access the VST, but @nonchai seems to be talking about the server version. I have VEP7 and use it quite a bit. I will check and see if Unify can see the server, but I'm not quite sure how to go about that.

I use VEP7 with Sibelius, and it has a method of connecting to the server directly, and not as a VST.

Here is the way the VSL plugins show up in Unify. The server version is not listed.

Here is Vienna Instruments Pro in Unify, and it works very nicely.

OK, here is VEP7 running in Unify. It doesn't seem very useful though. VEP7 is similar to Unify in that
it allows you to combine multiple instruments. However, unless you have everything on midi channel 1,
it plays only the first instrument (in this case Violin 1). If I were using it, I would load multiple
instances of Vienna Instruments Pro in Unify (just as they are in VEP7), and use them just as you
would any other VST.

To get it connected, I loaded an instance of the VEP7 Pro VST, and connected it to the VEP7 Pro
server that I already had loaded in the background. It connected with no problem and played the
instrument on midi channel 1.

To clarify for those not familiar with VSL players, Vienna Instruments Pro is one of several players for
the Vienna Symphonic Library. Vienna Ensemble Pro is a host for multiple instances of Vienna
Instruments Pro (or Synchron Player or any other VSL player or third party VST)

Here is a version of Pavane by Faure using VEP7 server with both VSL instruments in VEP7 and BBC Core instruments in Unify using Sibelius.

There are 5 instances of Vienna Instruments Pro, and 4 instances of Unify with a single BBC instrument in each in VEP7.
