When I run the VST3 scan, it crashes on Antares AVOX DUO. When I click OK on the error dialog, the scan starts all over (and will crash again). The error is:
AVOX DUO.vst3: Start Error
(X) Out of place engine initializaiton failed -> Application is terminated.
Is this on Windows or Mac?
Could you attach a screenshot of the error dialog? Unify itself doesn't pop up error dialogs, so this may be coming from the Antares plug-in. I may be able to get some help from their support group, to track down why this is happening.
Rather than running a full scan for VST3's, please try using the "Select and scan directly..." option at the bottom of the Operations menu in the Known Plug-Ins view. You'll need to locate the Antares VST3 plug-in yourself, but fortunately, the VST3 folder is standardized on both Mac and Windows:
- Mac: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
- Win: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
@getdunne I think you can forget this issue. I tried loading the various Antares AVOX plugins into Ableton and now a different AVOX plugin throws the error--prolly their weird license authentication scheme. I don't really need all plugins scanned and will just do on an as-needed basis using the Select and scan directly method you suggested. Sorry to bother.
@spice3d Thank you for the update. Please let me know if individual direct scanning fails.
Plug-in scanning is a devilishly complicated business, because as you note, some plug-in vendors do some bizarre things.
@getdunne I can only imagine. It's amazing you have it working as well as it does! Kudos.
