I was wondering how I go about adding images to the patches. I searched the manual (quickly) but couldn't find anything obvious. Cheers

@TTU The page you need is https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=linked-media

Thanks! I don't see a media folder. I assume I have to create one, is this right? Do I just make a folder named Media and create a txt file with the code on the page you requested?

  "Colours Test" hubble_ngc3318_potw2203a_0.png # Image file in the library's Media folder

In the above code, is "Colours Test" a preset name then a couple spaces to name the image file, so the patch will the image file, is this right?

If so, is it okay for me to drop all the images in the media folder, or is it good practice to have them in their own folder?

I have a patch name "ATM - Ooh" and I'd like to use image "Angel.jpg"

I have the image in the media file.

The look likes like this

"ATM - Ooh" "Angel.jpg"

I tried with the image in quotes and not in quotes, but still doesn't work.

I'm using notepad to edit and I also tried notepadd++. No go

Edit, I got it to work - sort of on this patch.

"BASS - Dirty Saw 1" with "ATM - Ooh.png"

yet, it won't work for this patch

"ATM - Ooh" "ATM - Ooh.png"

Am I missing something?

ALSO, I don't see a thumbnail of the image. I can click the image and I can see the image then, but the default is in place. Does the image perhaps need to be a square?

@TTU

Yes, you should create the Media folder for your library; Unify does not create one automatically.

Thumbnails don't get created automatically either. You need to create them as 96x96 PNG files, directly in your Media folder, with the same name as the corresponding patch's file name (which need not be the same as the patch name which appears in Unify). For example, suppose you have a patch named "Patch Name", which for some reason you chose to save as "Patch File Name.unify". If you want a specific thumbnail image to appear when that patch is opened in Unify, you must name the thumbnail file "Patch File Name.png" (not "Patch Name.png"). See https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=gui-overview#thumbnail_image

If you would like a larger image ("linked image") to pop open when the user clicks on your thumbnail image in Unify--suppose it's called "Big Image.jpg"--then you should put that larger image into your library's Media folder as well, or better yet, create a sub-folder inside Media called, e.g., Linked Images, and put your Big Image.jpg file in there. Then add a line like this to the links.txt file which you must also create in Media:

"Patch Name" "Linked Images/Big Image.jpg"

Note the thumbnail images are matched based on the patch-file name, but the linked images are matched based on the patch name as it appears in Unify. I'll be the first to admit that's confusing, but that's just the way I implemented things, and we're kinda stuck with it now.

I recommend examining the Media folders of any of your existing Unify libraries to see how this has been done. Feel free to post further questions here, and note I have just sent you a direct email also.

@getdunne

Perfect. Everything works now, thumbnails and patch art. Thanks for your help 🙂

I understand you are the magic behind this wonderful plugin. Good job. It's a brilliant synth that is lightning fast in loading.

While I have your kind attention, if I may, if I had one request, it would be to make the parameter "STRETCH" on the impulse response available to be modulated from KlangFalther, ie added to macro, visibile to CC Rider. This one parameter usually always sounds interesting when being tweaked. Not sure if its possible, but would love to see it.

Cheers

I'm delighted to hear that you got it all worked out. Our users are bound to enjoy whatever new libraries you're cooking up for Unify!

I have added your request to the to-do list. I'm not sure if it's possible either (Klangfalter is not my code) but I'll look into it.
