Yes! I was about to embark on how to find out how I can use Aftertouch to connect to a macro knob. It's a natural means of expression, pressing harder to change an effect.

@robosax, @lowell

Until we add this capability, you can use an instance of the free ModMate effect to convert aftertouch (actually Channel Pressure) to some MIDI CC, and then map that CC number to the knob you want to control.

Thanks much, Shane! I didn't think of that. That should work nicely.

ModMate is just another plug-in to Unify. If you don't register it into Unify's Known Plug-Ins list, Unify won't magically know where to find it.

However, Unify 1.8 already has the ability to assign Channel Aftertouch to any macro knob, so you don't needย ModMate for this anymore. Furthermore, the forthcoming Unify v1.9 will include a new built-in effect called CCMate, which is similar toย ModMate but much more powerful. The current Unify public beta already includes CCMate if you want to try it.

@getdunne Thanks for adding Channel Aftertouch! So I want both CC14 to control filter cutoff, for example (Macro1) and aftertouch to control that. I thought, easy, copy and paste the knob to keep the linked parameters, and change the second knob to Channel Aftertouch.

But when I copy a knob and go to paste it on an unused knob I get the error "Invalid Format. Clipboard does not contain valid Link data."

I also tried this on the INIT patch and the same issue occurs. Is there a different way to duplicate a knob?

The error message means what you copied does not match what you're trying to paste. My guess is you did "copy knob" (which copies knob name and all parameter links) and tried to paste that to an individual link slot.

After any "copy" operation in Unify, you can see the XML that went onto the clipboard by pasting into a text editor such as Notepad (PC) or TextEdit (Mac).

I tried to copy one knob to another, blank/unused one. Is that what you mean by an "individual link slot?" I didn't catch the connection.ย

In the end, how then do I properly copy one knob to another?

@getdunne What is the proper way to copy one knob completely to another?

Click on the "bullet" icon for the source knob and choose "copy knob". Click on the bullet for the destination and choose "paste knob".
