Facility for an Instrument layer to take input from any combination of MIDI Effect layers by way of a 'Merge' module inserted on the Instrument layer.

Can you give an example of how you would use this?

Two scenarios spring to mind.

Firstly modulation and possibly key switching. Say there is an LFO on MIDI layer#1 and another LFO on MIDI layer#2, it would nice if Instrument layers could subscribe to either or both, and even better if they had some control over amplitude offset and scale. Obviously this becomes more useful the more MIDI layers and Instrument layers you have.

Secondly merging of musical parts, for example drums; say there is a constant 1/4 note pulse produced by MIDI layer#1 and another 1/16 note pulse produced by MIDI layer#2, it would be nice if instrument layers could subscribe to either or both, thereby layering up kick drums or hi-hats for example.

Interesting ideas. Most of these effects are achieved already inΒ Cloud City V1 patches by simply duplicating layers. I will give some thought to other ways. Just adding the very specific features you suggest would be a lot of work for small gain, but there may be more generic approaches which would support a wider range of use-cases.

Envelopes might be the most useful case. It would be handy to create/edit master envelopes instead of having to work with separate copies of envelopes which are meant to be identical, especially during patch design.

..I can appreciate that MIDI processing may be a complicated issue, however it could also be one of the most orgasmic aspects of Unify πŸ™‚ Any chance we could write our own MIDI processing extensions for Unify at some point? πŸ˜‰

That's more along the lines I was thinking.
