Greetings Unifier's! Thoughts on possibly having the ability to read Rx2 files and use them as groove templates in the same way the midi files will be in 1.1?

@quasar

I'm not sure what's involved in reading RX2 files, but I'll look into it. I agree it would be terrific to have this feature in Unify some day.

In the meantime, you can of course use any RX2-capable plug-ins you may already have. If you have ReCycle, you can export the slices of an RX2 file as individual WAV files, which can be used to create a sample-map in Guru Sampler. The process is painful, but that's what John has done to create many of the new drum-kits in Cloud City V1.

Are there specific things you'd like to do with RX2 files? Please let us know, thanks.

Thanks Shane for your reply! I was thinking about groove templates at the time when you guys were first adding the midi features.
I do have another question not sure if it was discussed already with the new features. Can unify send midi out from for example blue arp or a bpm preset not as a single note to a DAW but the sequence that is being played? Is there a way to pass what the patch is doing as midi to record? Thanks!

Unify has no MIDI-out or export ability at the moment, but we hope to add it as an upgrade option in the near future. Could you describe the usage scenario(s) you want in a bit more detail?

Shane, I have several scenarios where I'd like to have MIDI out.

First, when I get an idea, I like to fire up Unify as a standalone because it's so fast. The most likely scenario for me here is to export MIDI in from a controller to a file in order to gate MIDIBox or a MIDIBlox->PolyBox chain, so pretty simple stuff. Quantize would be a nice to have. I suppose I might use a MIDI out to control external hardware. Probably something a gigging musician would want. I'd like to be able to record the MIDI out at the end of a MIDI layer so I could use Unify's MIDI tools.

Second set of use cases is using Unify inside a DAW where I'd want the same options as above. I'd like to be able to route the Unify MIDI out to a MIDI track (or port?) in the sequencer to control external gear but could settle for recording the output to a MIDI file that I could load in a MIDI track.

Also, in your copious spare time, a minor suggestion for MIDIBox. Have the "play" control graphic change to a square when MIDIBox is playing. Help a poor literalist.....

Regards,

Paul
