Steeper cutoffs in Restrictor, or a dedicated "crossover" plugin

Been playing with ComboBox to create some multiband effects using Restrictor to filter frequencies to each band.

The maximum slope at the moment is 48dB/oct, which is great, but steeper slopes or even complete brickwall cuts would be nice.

Alternatively a "crossover" plugin would be super useful that splits into dedicated outputs, stereo in > set the crossover frequency > low freq stereo out + high freq stereo out.

Excellent ideas. I've put them all on the to-do list.

Hello @getdunne,

Shane, could you please add a 6dB/oct slope for the low pass in Restrictor as well?

Some sound designer in the church world use this inside Mainstage or Logic for their pad patches.

Thank you for all your work!

Greetings and God bless

Marius from Germany

Hi Shane,

If that crossover could be a multi band crossover that would be most useful.  Imagine making your own multiband compressor or effects with different compressors or effects for each band!

You and Skippy are the Bomb!  Awesome work.

Thanks,

Kevin

@klight

This is a great idea, and I'll put it on our to-do list, but do have a look at the included MDA effects. They're not glamorous, but they work:

  • mda MultiBand is a simple multi-band compressor
  • mda Bandisto is a multi-band distortion
  • mda Splitter is a simple 2-way crossover.

See http://mda.smartelectronix.com/ for the details.

@klight it only needs to be a simple thing with 2 bands, then if you want more bands you just keep splitting the signal with another instance. Keeps the workload low too 🙂
