Unify Transport might benefit from a MIDI Post Roll setting where we can set a number of bars for transport to continue rolling after last Note Off event (4, 8, 16 bars) and restart on next Note On event. Would make it perfect for time based MIDI effects and AEG note release.

@histakes12

Thank you for bringing this to the forum.

This feature has been implemented in the Unify code for a long time, but we suppressed it because we weren't convinced it would be useful. Could you please explain one or more scenarios where you'd use this?

Absolutely! It would come in handy in the following scenarios:

1. When working with Time-based effects

ie Portal (Output); Effectrix (Sugar Bytes); Phase Mistress (SoundToys)

These effects depend on the MIDI clock for the timing of their processing. I would set a 16-bar “Clock Release” to let the effect play out after last Note Off event.

2. Amp Envelope Release

Some soft synths and their effects cut off audio when the MIDI clock stops. The Clock Release would let sound continue by default. For instance, an arpeggiator would continue playing as the synth fades out.

Hope that made sense. Let me know if not.

Thank you again!
