Trying to solo/mute layers with an external MIDI controller (K-Mix) using note data as a trigger.

A line in the controller-txt-file like
no 1 unify/solo/1
and sending the corresponding Note On (C#-2) solos the first layer, but the corresponding Note Off DOES NOT UN-solo/mute it (as it should be, I suppose …).

Trying the same with CC#s works fine.

Best regards
Rob

That's correct. The "no" (note-on) is only used to trigger events such as "MIDI panic".

CC messages have an associated value in the range 0-127. For binary items such as mute or solo, any value below 64 means "off" and 64 or higher means "on".

Thanks, Shane, I see, but why not using Note On/Off as binary ?? Seems like an easy add, no ?

A fair question. It didn't make sense for MIDI Panic (the first, and so far the only, function I've used Note messages for), but I can certainly look into it. This whole area of MIDI control is wide open at this point. What kinds of functions would you like to control using MIDI Note messages?

Same functions as with CC#s (mute/solo layer etc.) since my (Keith McMillen-) K-Mix buttons are only sending MIDI-Note-messages.

BUT, nevermind, I just tried to convert the MIDI-notes sent by it to CC#s on the fly using (the indispensable) Keyboard Maestro and that works like a charm, so thank you - all fine ... eagerly waiting for '"MIDI Macro" MIDI effect' (post-7854) and 'MIDI-bangable random patch picker' (post-7861) though πŸ˜‰
