Macro Name Changes to be visible in DAW
Is there any way that the changes to the macro name could be made in such a way that the name change can be accessible in the associated DAW (as opposed to just changing a label). See attached screen extract. You can see I have changed the names of Macros 1 and 2 yet when I map to them in Ableton, they are still linked as Macro1 and 2. For my live set, I need to be able to see quickly the name of the underlying parameters (which I will rename the Macros).
My plan is to replace all my VSTs that I use for live playing with Unify-housed plugins, and map the appropriate controls for each patch. These are in turn dynamically mapped on the fly to my Midi fighter trigger depending on the track I am currently performing. With my controls currently mapped to the VST directly in Ableton I am able to see the param name (in a max4live device) so it's very easy mid set to know what I'm tweaking.
This is a complex issue. Unify does not support what you ask at present. In the future, it's conceivable that we might provide a way for you to set the parameter names, but to the best of my knowledge, this can't be done dynamically on a per-patch basis -- at least not in all DAWs, or with all plug-in formats.
@getdunne I love the fact that a 'complex issue' I asked for 6 months ago, then just appears in the latest release. Great work. Loving the 'Custom macro-parameter names are now exported to host' functionality in 1.6.1.
Very useful - thanks
