If you know what CC numbers your controller uses (and you can use Unify's built-in MIDI Monitor plug-in to find out), you can simply assign those CC numbers to macro knobs, and link whatever parameters you need to those knobs.
Unify's MIDI Controller Files is an advanced set of features for special cases. You don't need any of that for what I think you're asking about.
Why don't you tell me exactly what you're trying to do, and I'll help you set it up in Unify.

First I would like to control the volume level of instruments 1, inst 2 etc.. with the nanoKontrol2 sliders but using the the VST .. and then solo/unsolo, mute/unmute instr. 1, 2 etc .. what you did in the standalone version. And thx for your kindness.

I found for the volume via 'linked parameters', but can't find for mute and solo ....

The mute and solo items are not parameters of any plug-in, so they don't show up in the pop-up menus. (Eventually I'll add some kind of menu for these, but it's still too early.) What you need to do is add a link to any parameter, such as layer mixLevel for example, then double-click the parameter path and edit it manually as described here in the Unify manual.
- To control muting of INST layer 3 (for example), change the path to unify/mute/3.
- To control soloing of INST layer 5, the path is unify/solo/5.
- To enable/disable INST layer 2, the path is unify/midiEnable/2.
These new paths starting with "unify" are also what we use with external MIDI controllers, as described here in the manual.
