Hello,
In addition to BBC SO Discover and BBC SO DiscoverStation, I also own the Miroslav Philharmonic 2 Library.
Would it be theoretically possible for me to attempt to roll my own version of discoverystation for use with this library?
Can one access and use discoverstation as a template to do this without infringing on any intellectual property or copyright? I certainly understand if that is not the case.
Is there interest to include Miroslav Philharmonic 2 Library as a feature add to future version of DiscoverStation or perhaps it's own library?
Thank you all for your time.
Hi George! As an owner of the DiscoverStation library, you are welcome to mix/match any orchestra libraries into or replacing parts of the patches in DiscoversStation. I would probably suggest saving these new Patches into a new library to make things easier to manage for you, but you can do whatever you want as far as making and saving new patches. If your goal is to share these Unify Patches with others, that is not legally advised because of the extensive intellectual properties in the library created by Geoff and myself. If you want to talk to us about creating a 100% MP2 library, that is an option but it is a very big undertaking!
2 of the included libraries in DiscoverStation were created by customers of ours that a) owned the Kontakt "Symphony Essentials" libraries and b) someone that owned the Pro version of the BBC Symphony Orchestra (a library we don't even own.) It could be very challenging resources wise to use the MP2 library for replacing all of the layers in every DiscoverStation patch - but I don't know for sure since I don't own that particular orchestral library. If you build the Orch patches were all 3 sections are fully incorporated into a single patch and it works well, please let me know. There are a lot of steps to convert the library 100% to a different library so we should talk about this before you embark on such an endeavor.
But yes 100% okay for personal use to replacing any instruments in DiscoverStation with other instruments from other libraries. As is the case with all of our libraries for Unify, these are all starting points inviting you to take them much farther if desired. If you want to go farther than that library wise, please contact me at unifysupport@pluginguru.com so we can discuss the process.

I use MP2 - I would like to make my own small subset library and assign some parameters. What is the best resource for learning how to proceed? I was hoping someone may have written an overview here I haven't found.
