AAS Swatches 1.5.2 Unified
I have Unified the latest version of Swatches (1.5.2) which now includes some patches from the new Lounge Lizard Insomnia pack.
Swatches is a free download from https://www.applied-acoustics.com/swatches/
There are 526 patches in total, plus I have added a bonus demo Z patch using some of the patches and a layer switch.
Let me know if anyone's interested and I will post a link.
I'm interested. And very grateful for the effort and time to make them.
Also, check out the last patch zSwatches Demo JH which is a quick demo I made layering a number the Swatches patches. I have set up a layer switch on one of the macro knobs to add each layer as you turn the knob. Try holding down a note and gradually adding each layer - you will need to retrigger the note to bring that layer in.
If you or anyone else fancies having a go at making a Z patch using AAS Swatches Unified that would be cool.
Maybe post them here and I will add them to the .guru file.
Grabbing now. Thank you! I will give it a shot on the custom patch and let you know.
I dig it! I messed around for quite a while in it before I decided to hit record. Nothing amazing, I'm not much of a keyboard player (bass + drums are my #1 and #2) but I had quite a bit of fun with the custom patch you made. I made a few tweaks along the way, as is surely encouraged.
Here is a link to what I did record, mistakes and all. But then, when you're noodling around, are there ever really any mistakes? 😉

I have been putting off Unifying Lounge Lizard and now might be interested in Unifying Ultra Analog VA-3. I really love Applied Acoustics Systems stuff. Really enjoying Chromaphone 3 as well.
I was one track away from finishing my version of a layered patch based on yours and Unify crashed on me. 😞 I looked to see if revert files were there but they were only there for the layers I was looking at, not the main patch. Oh well, I will try again soon. Thanks for the idea!
Hey, I enjoyed listening to your noodling with my patch 👍 Tweaking is definitely encouraged 🙂 I didn't add any keyboard ranges or latches for the drum part so that's another addition that would probably improve it.
That's a shame about your patch being lost after a crash. I hope you manage to re-create it. There are so many great patches in Swatches that you are kind of spoilt for choice!
I'm also a big fan of AAS and was thinking about Unifying Ultra Analog VA-3 so I will put that on my to do list. I am also thinking about going for the Lounge Lizard upgrade (currently on offer for $49 in my account and it includes the new Insomnia pack). I also have Strum GS-2 and that would also be a good one to Unify.
Thanks, man. I will give the layers another shot soon. I can take either Strum or Lounge Lizard and start Unifying those if you'd like to swap after. I have tried Unifying with automation but sometimes it takes longer to program than to just do it. Either way, I could do one, the other or both, not wanting to double efforts, etc. Once decided I will post a couple of sample presets to see if we are on the right path. Also, I grabbed the Insomnia pack and it's not bad. Not super to me, but not bad. If you decide to upgrade.
Good idea, thanks.
Swatches was a tricky one to automate as the patch names are hard to find in either folders, a list, or using the "save as" feature (doesn't exist in Swatches). I managed to decode some of the internal database and extract the patch names from there but even that wasn't the complete story (GS-2 patches were missing). So in the case of Swatches I spent ages creating a credible list of patches/categories and then ran the automation to actually do the Unifying.
I could do VA-3 if you want to do GS-2 or LL4?
Thanks for the info on Insomnia.
Thanks for Swatches!(and all your other labour, much appreciated)
+1 for VA-3
Thanks. I'll start with a couple of samples from GS-2 and go from there. I'll post those here soon/this weekend.
I have now completed Unifying the VA-3 Factory library. See here...
I should mention that I use the "Unified - AAS" in the library name to match up with the other AAS libraries that came like that.
Thanks, yes that looks fine.
It's got me wondering how the different GS-2 modes (keyboard, guitar and loop) might be made into Unify presets. Had you had any thoughts on this? It looks like there are approx. 58 different loop presets and each of those have 7 variations and stop.
No, I haven't thought about that. I figure we start with basics for now?
I did have the idea to add 3 more macro knob connections. One to change play modes between keyboard, guitar and looping. Then for guitar mode, the strumming speed. Then for looping mode, the loop tempo (1/2x, 1x, 2x).
I thought of this after the fact, so the macro preset is not saved with all of the patches. I am hoping you or someone has a way to combine the two automatically somehow.
As for Unifying with the various "packs" or different loops themselves, which are strumming patterns, we may be able to automate going through each existing patch and then sub-looping through each strumming pattern (loop). Not sure on the best way to go for that just yet. Here is a sample patch with the macro def included, plus the macro def on its own. Let me know what you think. Will pause "production" for now.
That's looking good, thanks.
The knob assignments will carry over from one patch to another as you create them. However, if you decide on a change once you have created all of the patches then it's not so easy to change them all. I use one of Shane's tools to simplify the process. You basically make the knob assignment changes you need to one patch and then use the utility to replicate these across all patches. You could always just go ahead with Unifying the patches using the current knob assignments and if any changes are needed at the end I can run the utility for you.
I don't know if you have any of the Kontakt NI guitar libraries but I have Unified a few of those and saved a Unify patch for each pattern. My initial thoughts were that something similar could be done for GS-2. On reflection though GS-2 loops don't work the same way as the NI libraries and a particular guitar patch is not part of the loop pattern setting. So you would have to save each loop with every guitar patch to cover all options which would be unwieldy and wouldn't add much value imho. I think your approach works fine.
I have a couple of Kontakt libraries, Scarbee funk guitarist and Shreddage 3 Jupiter. Haven't messed with them too much, really.
Attached are what I unified for Strum GS-2. I could use an assist, either with the help to do it myself or to have you or someone just do it, but there are a couple of things I would think should happen to these:
1) Add the macro knobs assignments from "macrodef Strum GS-2.xml" to each patch.
2) I noticed about halfway through the process that the name "dummy" was still showing next to "Inst 1" on the instrument layer. The true dummy here is definitely me. I believe there is a process that was discussed here that can bulk change those as well.
also, the best I could do with the automation software I was using...it added the sound designer to the bottom of the comments when the comments in the original are blank. oh well. Hopefully that's not a big deal here. And yes this was my first rodeo.
Thanks for all the effort, it's looking good. I have done the INST1 layer name and knob assignments copying for you.
You are not a dummy at all; it's much quicker and less error prone to do it at the end using the batch tool (that's how I usually do it now 😉 .
I have also added a small graphic which is displayed by Unify for every patch.
Here's the link to the updated guru --> https://www.dropbox.com/s/o3cxvigk9f5eh2m/Unified%20-%20AAS%20Strum%20GS-2.guru?dl=0
You should create a new thread on this sub-forum along the lines of the other Unified library threads.
Thanks again for doing it. 👍
