Here is my Unified Pharlight library for Kontakt (350 factory patches).

I have full Kontakt but I believe Pharlight is a Kontakt Player library so should work with the free Kontakt player.

You need to own Pharlight and Unify for this to work.

I really like many of the other Kontakt Play series libraries which are all Kontakt Player compatible so I might Unify some more e.g. Straylight, Analog Dreams, Cloud Supply, Ethereal Earth, Hybrid Keys and Lo-Fi Glow.

My pleasure Chris 😀

Just thinking about which one of these to Unify next. I really like the enhancements that NI added to the v2 updates of many of these. Analog Dreams might be next up.

The more you are doing the more spoilt for choice we get. Unify is getting monstrous!!!!

i appreciate whichever you are looking to do. NI instruments are great sounding in general backed with lots of layers then it’s amazing.

Thanks

Meant to say thanks for the mention in the Livestream comments  😀 They aren't on at a good time for me so I usually catch up with them after the event.

Anyway, I am really enjoying the NI Picked Acoustic library which I converted recently and which layers well both with itself and other instruments.

I have also just got NI's Vintage Electric library which also sounds amazing so I will probably Unify that.

We are really spoilt for choice now! 👍

@zinct you’re welcome and your work is appreciated.

I love having choice and it is making me utilise Komplete more really. I love the essential orchestra sounds and this acoustic guitar is nice for songwriting.

so many sounds. It enough fingers to play with them!!! 😂✋🤚🖐

🤣 Yes an extra pair of hands would certainly come in handy. I am experimenting with various iPad apps which can make playing a lot of layers in Unify in real-time a definite possibility. I'm also using rtpMIDI to connect to Unify from the iPad over the LAN which works remarkably well and with low latency.

Your work is also much appreciated. I usually try to automate the process of Unifying libraries wherever I can, but there's always some element of manual fixing required and I can be a bit OCD about it at times 🤣 So I am in awe of your stellar work on K6 SE Station and wonder how many hours you slaved over it. Thanks again for that.

Hi...thanks for doing this...are there any tips for "Unifying" these libraries or is it as easy as loading an NKI into Kontakt (while working in Unify, of course) and saving it to a distinct folder? Would love to help out as I have many Kontakt libraries...thanks!!

@raydricker

You can do it manually or save some time and automate the process to some degree. If you want to try automating it have a look at this thread...

https://forums.pluginguru.com/unify-live/autohotkey-unify-patch-browser/

You can certainly get a lot more patches Unified in a shorter time using automation but each script needs a certain degree of customising depending on the instrument. Still it meant, for example, that I was able to Unify all ~2,300 U-He Hive 2 patches in a couple of afternoons (I hate to think how long it would have taken manually).

I usually start by hitting Init in Unify, then add Master Optimiser Lite to the Master Effects layer and another empty effects layer to which I add Hallverb, Omega Delay and Waterverb.

Next I replace the Sine Wave Synth with, in the case of a Kontakt library, Kontakt (VST v6) and load whichever instrument is to be Unified in Kontakt.

For the first patch you need to create the Unify library e.g. NI K6 - Straylight. Then it's a matter of selecting each patch in the Kontakt Instrument and saving it in Unify. It's a good idea to fill in as much detail as possible in each of the fields. I also now add the patch name to the layer name in Unify (automation makes this easier). Doing this makes each patch easier to use with other patches from other instruments when you have a screen full of layers! You can usually leave the Kontakt UI open and visible while working in Unify so that speeds up the process of clicking next patch in Kontakt and saving in Unify.

You should try to name the patches as per the original patch names but with category names appended at the start e.g. BPM SYNTH. Pharlight was one of the early libraries I Unified using automation and I hadn't started appending these categories at that stage (only the Pharlight categories) but I do it now as it makes them easier to use.

I have attached a screenshot of a library I'm in the process of Unifying (Newfangled Audio Generate) to illustrate the idea.

You can also add a graphic for the library by putting a jpg in the patches folder (I haven't done one yet for Generate so it just shows the default).

I'm sure that John covered some of this in one (or more) livestreams so it's worth looking through some of those.

There's also this thread about patch naming ...
