One patch was looking for PG8x synth but Mac OS won’t let me add the vst ( no AU?), even tho I ‘ open anyway’
also I notice on all Johns tutorials his drm grooves trigger with equal pitch , but all the drums pitch up and down across keyboard which is irritating , is there a box to untick?
thanx
You are most likely on MacOS 10.15 Catalina. We had to drop PG-8X, because it cannot be made to work with Catalina. We are in contact with the original developer, and if he is able to update it, we may consider bringing it back.
When loading drum kit sample-maps into Guru Sampler, you will almost always want to change the second menu in the Master section fro "Pitched" to "Unpitched"; see https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=guru-sampler#master_section .
Hi, I changed one sampler to unpitched but coarse knob still transposes
using a patch from cloud called drums rythem libration ..., I figured it out, one has to unclick the midi box “note coarse”
This "note->coarse" trick is used a lot in Cloud City patches. MIDI CC127 is hard-wired to Guru Sampler's coarse-pitch control. Checking the "note->coarse" checkbox in MIDIBox causes it to generate CC127 messages in a very specific way.
The details are explained at the bottom of the Unify manual page for Guru Sampler. See also this section of the MIDIBox page.
In future, please make a new Forum topic for different questions. Other Forum users searching for information about Guru Sampler would not expect to find it in a topic titled "PG8X..."
Thankyou so much , will do
@getdunne. Oddly if I drag the plugin folder to vat's it actually loads fine in Catalina inside Ableton Live.. then you can just do open and load the default patch set. and it works fine in live stand alone.. so not sure why it won't validate. NOTE sometimes you will get the unsigned message.. this is normal. hit cancel then just open system prefs and security and hit open anyway..
PG-8x cannot be notarized by Apple (which they require for distribution for Catalina) because it was linked against a version of the MacOS SDK earlier than 10.9. It may well run on the current version of MacOS 10.15.x, but some near-future MacOS update is likely to change that, when support for the older SDKs is finally removed for good.
