My typical workflow is to find a patch to form the basis of my set. This can be a cool pad or maybe a rhythm preset. I then assign it to a couple of lower keyboard octaves. So far so good. The next step is to audition and find other patches to put on top of the base layer. This means I have to audition other instruments and find good matches.

The issue I'm having in Unify right now is that if I select "Unify Layer" and click on a new patch, I can quickly get many patches in the mix. I have to keep deleting the patches until I find one that works. I know there's not a "preview" mode but I am wondering if anyone has come up with a good workflow for auditioning and adding patches to new layers.

I did try creating a new layer from a blank Unify patch "Unify in Unify" and this seems to work. But I'm wondering if there's a better way to do this.

Thanks

I should add that this works because in the new User Patch I can set the patch load method to normal so clicking on a new patch will keep the count of patches to 1. It's like an auditioning work-around. 🙂

After loading a new patch as a new Unify layer (which you can do on a one-time basis by right-clicking the patch name and choosing from the menu), double-click to open the new Unify instance, and then you can try out different patches on that layer.

Yes, that's what I figured. Thanks!
