Perhaps you could do as many other programs and set up a dirty flag as soon as anything within Unify is changed. Then, in the GUI, display an asterisk next to the preset name at the top of the window whenever the flag is set.
Just please don't use color as a way of indicating save status. Some of us colorblind folk already have enough of an issue telling things apart by color (like that little bypass "B" in each layer 😉)

P.S. Confirmation would also be welcome when you save a subset after making changes to it.

I have written about this before. If this were easy, I would have done it a long time ago. The problem is that detecting changes made within individual plug-ins (i.e., using the plug-in's own GUI) is not easy, because plug-ins don't report such changes to their host. I know how to do it, but it's a substantial change, and I'm still struggling with more urgent issues.
As I said, all this is on the to-do list. Thank you for your comments about color and contrast; I will bear these in mind for future GUI changes.
