Midi port selection in Midi Effect / Instrument layers
I'm using Divisimate -> Unify/CoreStation workflow. Divisimate creates 32 midi ports for orchestral instrument assignments (each sending on ch. 1), and offers a Logic Mode which uses only 2 ports (A/B) and all 16 channels on each port to get around Logic Pro X's midi port/channel limitation when recording... sort of. 😉 I'm using this Logic Mode.
It would be great if in Unify I could select an individual midi port as input in the Midi Source selection for Midi Effect/Inst Layers. As it stands now, I get most of the way there by separating them across 16 midi channels, but since the full orchestra in DM provides 32 instrument ports (or A1-16 and B1-16 in my case), some instruments share channels. For example, in my screenshot I'm playing a WW Choir, but some of the trumpets and bones are also sounding because they use the same midi channel. I could hunt down and mute the offending brass layers in Unify, but that becomes difficult when trying to audition textures in DM on the fly with their iPad companion app (which is freakin' awesome btw, would love a Unify companion app for changing layer presets on the fly).
Thanks for the detailed scenario description. I hope to provide the ability to select each layer's input port (as well as channel) in a future version of Unify stand-alone, but note this will never work in a DAW, where Unify as a plug-in cannot see which port an input message originated on.
