Possible to have a patch play midi automatically as soon as it loads up, independant of Unify / host transport?

'My first foray on the forum. hello 🙂

I'm setting up something a little south of non-standard, and I need some help.

I"m trying to coordinate a few scripts on my PC to change setting of my midi controller in response to whatever Unify Plugin loads. I can start this process off with MIDI, _if_ I could get each of my custom Unify patches to send a unique cc upon load - from there the computer will receive and respond by kicking off my scripts - I just don't know how to get Unify to send MIDI automatically, without additional user input - or if this is even possible (?)

Is there a way to have a patch play a short .mid file once-through, automatically (no button / key press) as soon as the patch finishes loading? The transport of whatever would play this file would have to be separate from Unify, I would think, as I still need Unify to follow a host.

Or, can one of the Unify MIDI utilities somehow play one pre-specified note upon load, but only that one note, played only once?

I'm open to different ways of getting there. MIDI doesn't have to be the road, necessarily. Really, I just need some kind of feedback from Unify when a new patch has finished loading, along with some kind of ID for that patch. Perhaps this already exists?

Back to MIDI: I thought maybe a vst sequencer might work, but I've not found one yet that has a function to play automatically upon load.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This is a most interesting request. I understand what you're getting at in very general terms, but it would help if you could give more details about what your scripts are, where they run, and how they might be able to receive signals from Unify.

The spit-out-MIDI-on-patch-load idea is fraught with problems, so I'd prefer to avoid it. Unify knows when a patch has finished loading, but this is not the same as all loaded plug-ins having fully initialized to the point where they're ready to receive MIDI and generate sound. Unify has no way of knowing that, nor would any host.

It would also help if you could explain one or two specific scenarios you're trying to achieve.
